Welcome to Nurture Psychology
We are a specialist team of Clinical Psychologists and Health Psychologists based in Parnell Auckland. We provide evidence-based treatment for mild to moderate needs across the full spectrum of eating disorders, anxiety & mood concerns.
Our team is passionate about providing high quality, individualised care to clients and their families, supporting them in their journey toward psychological health and well-being.
What we offer
Treatment for eating disorders
We work with children, adolescents, adults and older adults across the full range of eating, weight and shape concerns.
This includes those that meet diagnostic criteria for an eating disorder such as anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa, and those with less recognised eating disorders such as binge-eating disorder, purging disorder, and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder or ARFID (extreme fussy eating typically in childhood).
We have a particular focus on early intervention for those with an early form of an eating disorder that may not meet official criteria. This may look like meal skipping, reduction of the amounts or types of food eaten, unexplained weight loss, heightened concern with body shape/size, excessive exercising, or eating large amounts of food in a short period of time. Our focus on these early cases is driven by clear research evidence showing that prompt engagement with specialist treatment results in faster treatment response, and therefore lessened impact on life.
In the interest of increasing access to specialist private care, we offer lower cost treatment packages for those with non-underweight eating disorders (e.g. Bulimia Nervosa).
Eating disorders rarely occur in isolation. As we aim to support the whole person in their recovery to wellness, we are also skilled in treating concerns that often co-exist with an eating disorder such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and perfectionism.
Treatment for anxiety & depression
Anxiety disorders & mood disorders such as depression are common mental health problems that can occur at any point across the lifespan. We provide psychological treatment for these difficulties both in the context of an eating disorder, and as standalone treatments (i.e. where there is no eating disorder).
We provide both brief intervention and longer-term treatment for those struggling with mild to moderate anxiety and/or mood concerns. These symptoms may be a small concern, or they may be having a more notable impact on psychological wellness & daily functioning.
Our psychologists have particular expertise in:
Anxiety, depression & other mood disorders
Postnatal depression/anxiety and/or infant sleeping problems (Dr Roberts)
Child and adolescent mood and/or anxiety concerns, together with family difficulties
Age-related concerns & adjustment for older adults (Dr Godinovich)
